Joseph R. Amonett is an attorney at Throop Law who handles criminal defense and family law matters. He is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Arizona.
Joseph was born and raised in Central Ohio but relocated to Arizona with his family in 2006. While there, he developed an interest in criminal law and criminal justice reform and decided to pursue those interests at Arizona State University (Go Devils!). During his undergraduate career, Joseph maintained a cumulative 4.00 GPA while serving in leadership positions in a variety of organizations. Due to his success, Joseph received The Outstanding Graduate Award from the College of Public Programs - an honor given to one graduate per college.
Upon graduation, Joseph began his legal career at Arizona Summit Law School where he remained near the top of his class. At ASLS, he served as a Staff Editor for the Arizona Summit Law Review, Treasurer for the Criminal Law Society, and Writing Fellow for the school’s legal writing center. In addition, Joseph worked at two reputable firms in the Valley of the Sun as an extern focusing on criminal defense.
In May 2016, Joseph relocated to Virginia and has since dedicated his time to the clients of Throop Law.
